Ikebana Kenzans

The Kenzan (剣山), literally meaning “sword mountain” in Japanese, is an essential tool in traditional Ikebana flower arranging. Its name comes from the sharp metal pins that stand upright from a weighted base, resembling a miniature forest of swords. In English, it is often referred to as a “floral frog” or “pin frog”. The Kenzan is designed for stability and precision. Its weighted metal base holds firmly in shallow bowls, while the pins allow flowers, stems, and branches to be positioned at almost any angle. This makes it ideal for classical Ikebana arrangements & modern floral designs.
